Beginning
Class-Grade 2-adult: This up-beat group class is for the
absolute beginner who has no previous experience with a stringed
instrument. An emphasis is placed on establishing proper
technique and beginning music reading. At the introductory
level, a parent must attend class with any student under age
twelve and are encouraged to learn to play an instrument as
well. Parents learn free of charge at MYO!
Advanced Beginning
Class-Grade 2-Adult: This class is a continuation of the
beginning class with a concentration on developing musicianship
and note-reading skills. Students learn to play pieces “in
parts’ and develop musical independence.
Philharmonia String
Orchestra-All Ages: This orchestra is open to any student
who meets audition requirements. The focus is on extending
students string skills while exploring a variety of string
orchestra repertoire. An opportunity to experience a full
orchestra (includes winds, brass and percussion), is presented
in the spring, when Philharmonia combines with Symphony for the
finale of the Spring concert. On alternate Tuesdays,
Philharmonia strings combine with Symphony strings to enjoy and
explore traditional fiddle music.

combined with Philharmonia strings to enjoy and explore
traditional fiddle music.

| Creative Dramatics is an elementary
school-aged program using theatre games to increase
self-confidence and communication skills. We use pantomime and
improvisation to teach students about theatre as well as
improving their self-awareness and how they relate to others.
Our teachers have degrees in theatre and education, and we go to
the schools to work with students. |
