Looking to gain real-world experience in the performing arts? The River Raisin Centre for the Arts (RRCA) offers internship opportunities for students and emerging professionals interested in learning what it takes to bring arts experiences to life—from the work happening behind the scenes to connecting with our community.

RRCA internships provide hands-on experience in a working performing arts organization. Interns have the opportunity to collaborate with staff, contribute to meaningful projects, develop professional skills, and gain a better understanding of careers in the arts and nonprofit sector.

Whether your interests are creative, technical, or administrative, there is a place to learn and grow at RRCA.

Internship Opportunities

 

Marketing

Marketing interns help tell the RRCA story and connect audiences with our performances, programs, classes, and events.

Opportunities may include:

  • Social media content creation and scheduling

  • Email marketing

  • Graphic design

  • Photography and video content

  • Website updates

  • Event and performance promotion

  • Community outreach

  • Marketing campaign planning

  • Audience engagement and research

Great for students interested in: marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, digital media, journalism, or arts marketing.

Stage Production

Experience what happens behind the curtain and learn how performances move from rehearsal to the stage.

Opportunities may include:

  • Technical theatre

  • Lighting

  • Sound

  • Scenic and set preparation

  • Props

  • Backstage operations

  • Production assistance

  • Load-ins and strike

  • Rehearsal and performance support

  • Front-of-house production coordination

Interns may have the opportunity to work alongside RRCA staff and visiting artists during concerts, theatre productions, dance performances, and special events.

Great for students interested in: theatre, technical theatre, production, lighting design, sound, stage management, or live entertainment.

Arts Administration

Learn how a nonprofit performing arts organization operates behind the scenes.

Opportunities may include:

  • Event and program planning

  • Box office and patron services

  • Administrative projects

  • Data entry and recordkeeping

  • Development and fundraising

  • Sponsorship support

  • Community partnerships

  • Education program support

  • Research and special projects

  • Day-to-day nonprofit arts operations

Great for students interested in: arts administration, nonprofit management, business, event management, fundraising, hospitality, or performing arts leadership.

What You'll Gain

An internship at RRCA is designed to provide more than observation. Whenever possible, interns are given opportunities to contribute to active projects and see how their work supports the organization and the community it serves.

Interns can gain:

Who Should Apply?

​

We welcome students and emerging professionals who are enthusiastic about the arts, eager to learn, dependable, and ready to contribute. Previous professional arts experience is not required. We are especially interested in applicants who are curious, collaborative, organized, and excited to develop new skills.

Internship schedules and responsibilities may vary depending on the area of interest, current RRCA programming, and the student's availability. Some evening and weekend opportunities may be available, particularly for performance and production internships.

College Credit

​

RRCA is happy to work with colleges and universities when an internship is being completed for academic credit. Students are responsible for providing any requirements or documentation from their school.
